The Department of Surgical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine is soliciting applications for a full-time Teaching Professor in the veterinary field of Dentistry and Oral Surgery. The successful candidates will join the Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery section, which is comprised of a dynamic group of veterinary dentistry residents and certified veterinary technicians.

Principal Duties: |
A successful candidate for the Teaching Professor Track (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) position in Dentistry and Oral Surgery will have primary responsibilities in clinical and didactic teaching as well as providing clinical service in the small animal Hospital at UW-Veterinary Care. Teaching is the major responsibility of this position and individuals in the Teaching Professor Track at UW-Madison are involved in independent classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction as well as community and educational outreach efforts specific to their academic or clinical discipline.
In addition, instructional design and development or enhancement of academic content through the use of instructional technology, participating in curriculum development and other activities related to teaching, dissemination of teaching methods and practice of the clinical discipline of dental and oral surgery are expected.
Distribution of time in clinical practice, teaching, research, and service is expected to be in the range of the following, depending on unit needs: Clinical Practice/Clinical Teaching : ~70% Non-clinical teaching ~20% Service ~10%
There is currently a 1-week equine dentistry elective course (including clinical laboratory) offered during the third year curriculum. If the appropriate candidate has an equine interest, participation in this course would be encouraged.
Opportunities for additional formal AVDC training in oromaxillofacial surgery (OMFS) may be available to the appropriate candidate.

Degree and Area of Specialization: |
DVM or equivalent
|
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience: |
Board certified or board eligible in the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) or European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC) is necessary.
Advanced training in dentistry and oral surgery required.

License or Certificate: |
Must be licensed to practice Veterinary Medicine in the State of Wisconsin
