Position Summary:

This position will be an academic based general neurology practice with the flexibility to explore subspecialty, teaching and research interests.

The Department of Neurology is a department of almost 60 faculty and over 20 advanced practice providers located at 20 S. Park/Meriter Hospital, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and UW Health Clinics. This is a diverse group of generalists and specialists that provides primary, secondary, and tertiary inpatient and outpatient care. The successful candidate will join a world-class institution that encourages, values and supports interdisciplinary basic, clinic and population health research, and attracts scholars and students from around the world.

Principal Duties:

Clinical responsibilities include outpatient, consult and inpatient activities at the UW Health Hospitals and clinics and affiliated hospitals and clinics. Clinical responsibilities will be primarily general neurology practice with the flexibility to explore subspecialty, teaching and research interests.

Academic responsibilities include teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows as well as teaching continuing education programs for physicians and the public.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank and in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For appointment at the CHS Track: Duties will either be approximately 80% clinical, 10% research, and 10% teaching or approximately 80% clinical, 20% research, depending on the successful candidate.

For appointment at the CT Track: Duties will be approximately 90% clinical, 10% teaching, depending on the successful candidate.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of neurology residency by time of appointment.

Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

Candidates for Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the Clinician Teacher track.

License or Certificate:

Must have WI medical license by the time of appointment. Must be ABPN or AOBNP Board eligible or certified in Neurology.

Additional Information:

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.

For appointment at the CHS Track: Duties will either be approximately 80% clinical, 10% research, and 10% teaching or approximately 80% clinical, 20% research, depending on the successful candidate.

For appointment at the CT Track: Duties will be approximately 90% clinical, 10% teaching, depending on the successful candidate.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. the selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.
