Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Mental Health Services Leadership Team Clinician, the Crisis Response/Mental Health Provider will provide clinical and crisis services for UW-Madison students. This position serves as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team responding to university students in acute distress, both on and off-campus, in collaboration with campus and community services/agencies/departments such as police, hospitals, housing and Dean of Students Office. The Crisis Response/Mental Health Provider is also responsible for providing campus-based programming regarding crisis and general mental health concerns.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

For Counselor or Social Worker Title: Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other related mental health field
For Psychologist Title: Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required: Minimum of one year experience in a mental health setting.
Preferred: Minimum of two years' experience in a mental health setting.

Strongly preferred experiences of the candidate include:
1)Demonstrated interest and experience in a diverse college student population.
2)Experience in an interdisciplinary college mental health treatment setting;
3)Experience in brief intervention and mental health crisis assessment;
4)Experience in consultation and collaboration with campus or community partners and provision of campus-based services/outreach including experience developing campus-wide programs;
5)Demonstrated attentiveness to intersectionality & health disparities, and commitment to continued development of cultural competencies;
6)Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams including medical providers and/or academic faculty/staff
7)Experience in various levels of care for patients/clients in crisis or acute distress (e.g., inpatient, intensive outpatient, and/or outpatient);
8)Expertise in consultation and collaboration regarding crisis stabilization within an interdisciplinary mental health treatment setting;
9)Evidence of service delivery model creation and implementation for crisis stabilization services;
10)Experience monitoring and adjusting crisis stabilization service delivery flow related to utilization;
11)Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with persons of diverse socio-economic, racial/ethnic, international, and LGBTQ backgrounds, including knowledge and sensitivity about multicultural issues;
12)Experience in mental health crisis assessment, triage, and brief intervention;
13)Supervision of trainees

License or Certificate:

For Counselor, Social Worker and Psychologist titles: License to practice independently in the State of Wisconsin preferred. License to practice independently required within two years of hire.
