Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin System is transforming the administrative infrastructure within the University system. The overall transformation is a people, process, policy, and technology initiative which will include business process standardization, optimization, and redesign in the areas of finance, human resources, and research administration, and will include implementation of Workday to support the changes. The overall objective of the Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is to right-size the administrative complexity to advance the missions of education, research, and outreach.

The Data & Reporting Strategy Lead will report to the Program Director and be accountable for designing and implementing a data management and reporting strategy for future state operations of HR, finance, and research administration. The successful candidate will be part of the ATP leadership team and will work across functional business areas within ATP (HR, finance, research administration) within the program to ensure achievement of program goals and objectives, specifically that data and reporting needs are being met.

The Data & Reporting Strategy Lead will collaborate with enterprise-wide data programs to ensure alignment with data governance, analytics strategies, and the development of a UW System-wide integrated data warehouse and analytics strategy. This role will also partner with the ATP IT Strategy Lead to develop recommendations for data conversion, data integrations, ancillary systems disposition, and integration of related initiatives within UW System.

To be successful in a distributed decision-making environment, the Data & Reporting Strategy Lead will also participate in ATP governance groups and activities within all functional areas and proactively collaborate across UW System with IT service providers, technologists, and other individual stakeholders, stakeholder groups, and interested parties to advance ATP objectives.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
1. 7 to 10 years of work experience as a business analyst or product owner in data management or analytics projects; cloud experience preferred
2. Superior analytical skills. Experience creating, manipulating, and extracting information from large, complex systems. This job requires the individual to draw on technical querying and analytic skills to synthesize complex or diverse information, collect and research data, and design workflow and procedures.
3. Knowledge of data management and reporting capabilities in ERP systems
4. Management experience and expertise building and leading cross-functional teams of diverse individuals
5. Strong presence with senior leaders and ability to act as a partner and trusted advisor
6. Strong problem solving and creative skills, along with the ability to exercise sound judgement in decision-making
7. Strong communication skills -- both written and oral -- including the ability to communicate sensitive information effectively
8. Public speaking skills and comfort presenting to large groups
9. Forward-thinking; ability to ground conversation in a vision for the future versus constraints of the current state

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with data management and reporting capabilities in Workday or PRISM Analytics
2. Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in a cloud-based infrastructure
3. Knowledge of enterprise HR, finance, research administration business processes and reporting requirements
4. Knowledge of university administration in a complex university or university system
5. Knowledge of best practices for and experience with data conversions and system integrations
6. Curiosity and learning mindset; independently identifies areas of competency development and designs learning goals to achieve expertise

Additional Information:

Anticipated duration of this position is 5-7 years. End date is dependent upon project completion.

Starting salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
