Job Summary:

As part of a strategic hiring initiative, the College of Engineering is investing in hiring future leaders in the areas of robotics and automation, energy systems, and advanced materials and design. With this posting we are looking for tenure-track faculty candidates with research focused on energy in two application areas:

1) next generation energy systems for transportation applications
2) simulation and modeling related to energy storage or grid/system integration.

The department is interested in candidates whose research can address fundamental
challenges in energy applied to these areas. Applicants with research focused on chemical, mechanical, and electrochemical storage are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be interested in collaborative work with existing centers and faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and throughout campus. Candidates who transcend the traditional boundaries of Mechanical Engineering to incorporate insights from Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines to address high impact societal problems related to areas described above are especially encouraged to apply.

Education:

Required
PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
