Job Summary:

As part of a strategic hiring initiative, the College of Engineering is investing in hiring future leaders in the areas of robotics and automation, energy systems, and advanced materials and design. With this posting, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison seeks new faculty at the Assistant Professor level, specializing in accelerated discovery of 2D / quantum materials through computational methods. Areas of interest include but are not limited to novel electronic structure approaches; high-throughput calculations; and applications in light-matter interactions, topological phenomena, magnetism, superconductivity, quantum information science, neuromorphic computing, spintronics, magnonics, phononics, and twistronics. Research complementing existing efforts in 2D materials, transition metal oxides, ultrafast spectroscopy, advanced synthesis, and quantum electronic transport characterization, and device design is of particular interest.


Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise graduate student research; develop and direct a strong, funded research program; participate in departmental and university faculty governance; demonstrate dedication to diversity; and contribute to professional and public service.

PhD and at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
