Job Summary:

Allen Centennial Garden at UW-Madison is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and collaborative team member to fill the position of Garden Program and Event Lead. The Garden Program and Event Lead will coordinate educational, outreach, and profit-generating programs at the Garden and assist with their development. These will include new and existing educational events for students and the broader campus community, a concert series, garden tours, festivals, private events, and weddings. The Garden Program and Event Lead will collaborate with the executive director, interns, and other staff to make these programs a reality by managing our program calendar, supply purchasing and inventory, and communication with vendors and clients. They will also be responsible for managing the event and programming budget, leading day-of event execution, and creating digital and print communication materials to promote all Garden activities.

Allen Centennial Garden is the artful living laboratory and public botanical garden of the Horticulture Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Garden serves as an outdoor classroom for UW-Madison students and the surrounding communities, providing meaningful learning opportunities for visitors of all ages in collaboration with community members themselves.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
Experience with event management and coordination
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to actively support a welcoming and diverse community
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred qualifications:
Experience developing and/or leading successful revenue generating programs at a mission-based organization
Experience developing relationships with and programming alongside diverse communities
Experience with digital communication through a WordPress-based website, Instagram, Facebook, and Eloqua (email marketing platform)
Teaching experience desirable
