Job Summary:

This is a position for a regional anesthesiologist or general anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with occasional teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components.

Responsibilities:

Duties for appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT track: Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model. Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for regional anesthesia or general anesthesia surgical patients Teaching of fellows, residents and medical students in the operating room, and occasional didactic sessions.

Duties for appointment to CHS track: Major teaching responsibilities for fellows, residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in the regional or general anesthesia patient care area.
Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for regional anesthesia or general anesthesia surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation or to lead clinical research for interested and qualified candidates.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Completion of Anesthesiology residency program. Prefer fellowship training in Regional Anesthesiology.

This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title will be determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Candidates for Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment to Clinician Teacher Track.

Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you chose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.
