Job Summary: |
This position prepares and monitors food productions to assure high quality results related to recipe adherence, quality control and timely production. Assists in menu updates including creation of new menu items and recipes. It is a team member with the Wisconsin Union Restaurants on the UW Madison Campus.
Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students.

Responsibilities: |
Performs a variety of food preparation activities and related tasks according to quality and safety standards in dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals.
- 55% Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- 20% Trains and guides student workers
- 10% Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities
- 10% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- 5% Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
The Wisconsin Union is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.
