Job Summary:

The FoodWIse Nutrition Coordinator is an integral member of the UW-Madison Division of Extension and the Marquette, Waushara, and Green Lake Counties FoodWIse team. Nutrition Coordinators are responsible for staff training and supervision, program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting, and developing and managing the local program budget. The Nutrition Coordinator works closely with nutrition educators and partner agencies to plan and implement interventions that improve healthy food access and make healthy food and physical activity choices practical and available to community members with limited income.
The ideal candidate is adept at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, engaging partners, and applying an equity lens towards transforming lives and communities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.

The FoodWIse Program is a part of the Health & Well-Being Institute (https://extension.wisc.edu/health/). This Institute works to catalyze positive change in Wisconsin residents through evidence-based and community-engaged health promotion programs to improve health, build community capacity to identify and address health inequities, engage in collective action, and achieve greater health equity.

FoodWIse (https://healthyliving.extension.wisc.edu/programs/foodwise/) advances healthy eating habits, active lifestyles and healthy community environments for families with limited incomes through nutrition education at the individual, community and systems levels. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) grants.

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 5% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 5% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • 15% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 5% Communicates plans, activities, and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners, and relevant stakeholders
  • 10% Supervises program staff and resolves personnel issues

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position such as nutritional sciences, dietetics, community health education, public health, family and consumer sciences, social work or related field

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the area of programming and service delivery.
- Ability to supervise and manage staff.
- Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work.
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and community-based organizations
- Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
- Demonstrated commitment to the goals and values of Extension's commitment to equity and social justice to support opportunities and outcomes for youth, families and communities.

Preferred:
- Experience in budget development and fiscal management.
- Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing, and evaluating direct education programs and policy, systems and environmental change interventions designed to support behavior change.
- Demonstrated experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners and local governments.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $43,860 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
A taxable hiring bonus of $4,386 will be paid on the selected candidate's first paycheck.

Additional Information:

- Must be able to carry education equipment, up to 25 lbs.
- Participate in low impact physical activity exercises, dependent on local program delivery.
- Final headquarters office location will be in one of the following counties: Marquette, Waushara, or Green Lake.
