Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist to join our Division of Pediatric Cardiology. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

The UW Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising over 200 faculty in seventeen subspecialty divisions. The Department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting edge research and vigorous advocacy.

The Congenital Heart Program at UWHealthKids' American Family Children's Hospital is a dynamic and growing service that has become a recognized leader in the field, providing outstanding care from fetal life through adulthood. The Pediatric Cardiology division at UW School of Medicine and Public Health is a highly collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and Fellows. The division is integrated in a matrixed environment including surgeons, critical care, anesthesiology, neonatology, and radiology specialists. We strive for excellence in service and clarity in communication with our patient's, families, and their primary care providers. The recently released 2021 rankings lists the Department of Pediatrics as No. 7 in the nation with $37.5 million in funding from the NIH. The department has continued to rise in national rankings of research dollars, up from No. 31 in 2012, and it has ranked in the top 13 for five years straight.

Responsibilities:

CHS track:

The CHS track is available to candidates who desire deeper engagement in academic and research activities in addition to their clinical responsibilities. On the CHS track, faculty spend approximately 60-70% of their time in clinical activities, 30-35% pursuing academic interests, and 5-10% in teaching and administrative activities. For those appointed to the CHS track, academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise.

CT track:

The CT track is available to candidates who want to primarily focus on clinical activities, with an expectation to engage in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Independent research activities and academic productivity are not expected. The anticipated clinical activities will include provision of interventional catheterization support, ambulatory clinic including shared regional services, inpatient attending responsibilities, and additional coverage as appropriate.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

MD, DO, or equivalent is required

Qualifications:

*Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
*Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology with a 4th year in Interventional Cardiology is required.
*Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.

Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank at the CHS Track that have been previously established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines. Appointment as Associate Professor or full Professor will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.

License/certification:
*Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure.
*Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
*Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
