Job Summary:

The Family Relationships Extension Educator position has a primary emphasis in the Parenting and Family Relationships Program and a secondary in the Financial Education program.

Programming will focus on:
- Planning, delivering, and evaluating the programming and activities for families in Dane County involved in local justice systems including Parenting Inside Out, the Literacy Link program (https://theliteracylink.extension.wisc.edu), financial education, and more.
- Leading and teaching Division of Extension education curriculum that strengthens families with a focus on justice-involved families, supporting family relationships, and improving financial capability for individuals and families.
- Expanding access to the full range of Extension educational programming for all families, particularly in communities that are underrepresented such as racial minorities, families in transition, and those from low-income households.
- Linking community family serving organizations to university resources or directly providing parenting and family training to organizations.

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 20% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 5% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 5% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • 10% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 10% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least two years of experience relevant to the educational programming and service delivery of the position.
- Demonstrated commitment to serve families in transition (justice involved families, families with limited income, and others).
- Experience working cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments.
- Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work.
- Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology.
- Experience effectively working with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Preferred:
- At least five years of work or lived experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position.
- Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes.
- Demonstrated experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners and local governments.
- Demonstrated skill in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings.
- Bilingual (Proficiency in Spanish/English or Hmong/English)

Salary:

Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
A taxable hiring bonus of $2,500 will be paid on the selected candidate's first paycheck.

Additional Information:

- The primary accountability relationship for this position is the Area 18 (Dane County) Area Extension Director for supervision, compensation and benefits, and performance reviews.
- This position's primary programming focus is Dane County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.
- Expectation to make arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions.
- Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet programming needs. Schedule can be flexed to accommodate evening and weekend work.
