Job Summary:

This position is a part of the Division of Extension Positive Youth Development Institute, with a focus within the Community Youth Development Program. The Institute supports programs that engage Wisconsin youth in opportunities they need to learn, lead, grow, and thrive. The ideal candidate is adept at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, engaging stakeholders and applying an equity lens towards transforming lives and communities. As such, candidates are expected to foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.

This Educator position will primarily serve Burnett and Washburn Counties, including the St. Croix Tribal land. And will work to design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus:
- Positive youth development issued based programming focused on reaching underserved and underrepresented audiences;
- Connecting youth with adults, places and processes where decisions are made about their community (local government, non-profit/philanthropic organizations, grassroots organizers, school boards, tribal leadership)
- Providing leadership and support for Youth In Governance, and other youth/adult partnership programming creating space for youth voice and action;
- Work with youth serving organizations and schools to empower young people to identify health related challenges / opportunities in their home communities and develop solutions. Building community capacity to address issues that affect youth such as career and education pathways, racial equity, justice-involved families and restorative justice approaches, and promoting physical, social and emotional health.

The position functions in a fast-paced, multi-faceted, respectful office. It offers a great deal of day-to-day variety, including program development and implementation, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, and working closely with other county educators and state-level specialists. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills to foster a collegial working environment.

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 15% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 30% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 15% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 10% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners, and relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

Required:
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments including demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; and
- Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Preferred:
- At least 3 years of relevant field and work experience in the area of programming and service delivery such as youth program development and delivery, education, prevention, etc.
- Ability to work cooperatively and develop partnerships or coalitions with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs;
- Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high-quality work;
- Demonstrated skill in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings;
- Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes; and
- Demonstrated experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners and local governments.

Additional Information:

- The primary accountability relationship for this position is the Area 2 Extension Director for supervision, compensation and benefits and performance reviews;
- This position's primary programming focus is shared between Burnett and Washburn Counties; however some programming will also be conducted over a broader geographical area;
- Expectation to make arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions;
- Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet programming needs. Candidates could expect to work 1-2 evenings per month and a few weekends throughout the year.
