Job Summary:

The Natural Resources Education Team works together to design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus. This position will work in several watersheds in Southeast Wisconsin. The team focuses heavily on integrating human dimensions perspectives into natural resources management decisions. Initial programming focus will include:
- Providing organizational, leadership, and content support for watershed initiatives (focused on groundwater, water quality and related subjects);
- Engaging stakeholders to create and implement an information an outreach strategy addressing the links between agricultural conservation and water quality;
- Providing regional programmatic leadership and increase the capacity of individuals, organizations and partnerships to reduce nonpoint source pollution impacts to groundwater and surface water.
- As the regional Natural Resource Educator, work with Extension, county land and water conservation, state and other professionals to address funding partners' objectives to reduce nonpoint source agricultural pollution

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 15% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 10% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 15% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 20% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders
  • 10% Works with the Regional Natural Resource Educator team to fulfill funding partners requirements around outreach and education.

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
In a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position, including, but not limited to human dimensions or behavior change in natural resource management, ag extension, rural sociology, hydrogeology, water resources, geology, soil science, agronomy, environmental science, environmental health or other closely-related fields (or advanced degree).

Preferred
Master's Degree
Preferred in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications:

Required:
-Bachelor's Degree (or advanced degree) in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position, including, but not limited to human dimensions or behavior change in natural resource management, ag extension, rural sociology, hydrogeology, water resources, geology, soil science, agronomy, environmental science, environmental health or other closely-related fields.
-Work experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position.
-Experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Preferred:
-Master's Degree in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position
-A combination of at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the area of programming and service delivery such as civic engagement, leadership development, adult education/ outreach/communication, water quality, organizational development
-Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs and messages for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes
-Experience planning, facilitating, and/or evaluating community-based civic engagement, leadership development, organizational capacity efforts and watershed planning with natural resource groups.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $56,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
