The Development & Communications Specialist will work closely with the Director of Communications & Marketing and Directors of Development to identify and implement annual donor engagement goals, themes and event strategies supporting research, innovations and programs, and building CHM's donor base.
Clear and compassionate communication with a wide variety of stakeholders from various backgrounds is important to this role. You will communicate to donors directly and indirectly through gift acknowledgement, events, newsletters, invites and appeals, contributing to Center-wide goals related to reach, diversity, inclusion and philanthropic impact. Your daily interactions may also involve members of CHM's programming, research and operations teams, as well as external partners and vendors (including the affiliated non-profit Healthy Minds Innovations and Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association).
Your attention to detail and project management skills will help you plan, execute, maintain and analyze communications, donor stewardship events, databases and lists, using project management software and other software solutions. In addition, you'll provide support to the marketing and communications team, collaborating on budgeting, billing reconciliation, vendor relations and more.
You'll balance collaborative work with independently managing priorities and tasks to move work forward and will have the opportunity to collaborate on assessing existing processes and proposing solutions, as we embark on updates to modernize and improve efficiency. As a CHM brand ambassador, you will help maintain quality and integrity of brand image and voice across communications.

||Assists in the planning, promotion and execution of development events, leads the creation and updating of informational materials, interacts with stakeholder groups to cultivate and maintain relationships, and leads reporting efforts on the effectiveness of development activities of the unit.
- 20% Assists with the development of strategic planning initiatives and objectives, program budgets, and monitors activity to ensure adherence to established guidelines
- 20% Collects, prepares, and analyzes donor information and event data and provides subsequent recommendations for improvement and enhancement
- 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for event and program activities, facilities, participants, and vendors adhering to established timelines and expectations
- 25% Assists with the design, development, and delivery of marketing and communication materials and other event publications to promote development events and programs
- 5% Serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders at meetings and activities to advocate for and promote the interests of the unit
- 5% Assists with general marketing/communications vendor coordination to support campaigns and events.
- 5% Assists with general marketing/communications administrative support needs.
