Job Summary:

This position is accomplishing on the job training in support of completing a State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development apprenticeship program. The position will provide a wide range of support for facility maintenance and renovation activities under the direction of a journeyperson. The position will track their on-the-job training activities and provide input into their training. Daily activities will include training and work execution related to the trade as well as miscellaneous activities in support of general facility repair and renovation work.

Responsibilities: Assists with installs, remodels, and repairs insulations, with all types of lagging materials or protective jacketing. Assists with the maintenance of all types of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, and ductwork for mechanical and plumbing systems to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. Attends all required training as stated in apprenticeship program agreement.
  • 10% Trains to interpret blueprints and drawings to assess and verify specifications and calculate the materials and equipment required. Participates in discussions with customer/client regarding project plan
  • 20% Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for job as instructed to do so by Supervisor and or lead
  • 35% Trains to perform skilled insulation construction, demolition, installation, and repairs according to established trade standards and applicable building and safety codes
  • 5% Participates in the review of finished projects with client/customer. Under the direction of Supervisor or lead, maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations
  • 5% Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
  • 5% Under the supervision of Supervisor or lead, collaborates with and assists contractors as needed
  • 20% Completion of a registered apprenticeship program training requirements

Applicants must pass one of the following assessments:
ACT: 15 in Math and 12 in Reading
Accuplacer Classic: 55 in Arithmetic and 40 in Reading
Accuplacer Next Gen: 237 in Arithmetic and 209 in Reading

Qualified applicants will be set up for Accuplacer testing if needed.

7:00am -3:30pm, Monday-Friday. 30 min unpaid lunch break
