Job Summary:
The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical bio-manufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future. The position is in the UW Human Stem Cell Core, located in the Waisman Center, and part of the Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience (CMN) Core. The core provides reprogramming and gene editing services to human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) researchers. The Researcher will provide technical expertise in the design and implementation of experiments that engineer hPSCs using state-of-the-art gene editing technology to generate or correct point mutations, introduce reporter constructs, and safe harbor (AAVS1) transgenic systems, assist with development of research methodologies and procedures and coordinate and manage multiple projects and provide documentation.

Education:
Required Bachelor's Degree A degree in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is preferred Preferred Master's Degree A Master's Degree in the aforementioned fields is preferred Preferred Terminal Degree A PhD in the aforementioned fields is preferred
Qualifications:
Expertise in CRISPR-Cas technology design and troubleshooting is required. Well-qualified candidates will have the following preferred experience: - Experience with human stem cell culture, maintenance and characterization. - Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture. - Experience with CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing of human pluripotent stem cells. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Extensive understanding and experience in molecular biology is preferred. - Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% - 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
