The Mehle lab at the University of Wisconsin Madison is looking for a highly motivated scientist to study the influenza viral replication machinery and the host factors that regulate expression of viral genes and replication of the viral genome. Successful applicants will be scientifically ambitious with a record of published research success and a PhD or equivalent. A strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, high-throughput sequencing or coding/bioinformatics will be advantageous. Candidates with prior experience studying virus: host interactions and viral host range restriction are preferred. Experience with influenza virus is a strength. The Institute on Aging is seeking a research specialist that will work closely with investigators on the MIDUS (Midlife in the United States) project. MIDUS is a national longitudinal research study that investigates the human aging process by measuring protein biomarkers expressed by the body, administering physical and psychological tests, and determining socioeconomic factors of all participants. This research position is within the Biological Core, which coordinates the shipment of human samples across multiple sites and runs immunoassays to test hormone, immune and hematological measures.
