INSTRUMENTATION TECHNOLOGIST summary: This position works in the Forest Plasma Physics Group and will provide general experimental support for a fusion research device with emphasis on electrical circuitry. Primary duties will include design and fabrication of circuits used in plasma diagnostics, controls of ancillary systems, and power circuitry (both high voltage and/or high current) for driving plasma heating equipment and magnets. MICROBIOLOGIST I OR II summary: This position will join our wastewater-based epidemiology team to assist in the tracking of pathogens in wastewater. This field of science is quickly evolving and has proven valuable for monitoring populations for infectious diseases and providing timely data for making informed decisions to advance public health. In 2020, our team began tracking the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative agent of COVID-19, in wastewater throughout the State of Wisconsin. We established one of the largest monitoring programs in the country and have been viewed as leaders in this field. We are currently looking for a Microbiologist that can assist in the advancement of this program by expanding the pathogens and antibiotic resistant genes that can be monitored in wastewater. The Microbiologist will assist in designing and refining dPCR, qPCR and/or sequencing methods for additional targets, develop QA/QC for new analyses, as well as assist in writing publications. The position can be hired as a Microbiologist I or Microbiologist II depending on level of education and experience.
