TUTOR INTL DIV/SASLI Madison
The Turkish Flagship Language Initiative (TURFLI) is a special initiative of the Boren Awards for International Study offering awardees the opportunity for intensive language study of Turkish and for cultural immersion by participating in domestic and overseas language programs. Participants in TURFLI may start with no language proficiency through advanced proficiency in Turkish. The TURFLI program is administered through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The TURFLI Azeri Tutor will work with Turkish language students and will participate in a mandatory orientation meeting at the beginning of the summer. The orientation meeting addresses general topics such as the goals of the TURFLI Program, expectations of TURFLI students and the Azeri tutor, program logistics, remuneration, supervision, and procedures for addressing questions or problems. This orientation will take place during the first week of classes, which runs from June 20-24, 2022. During the summer session, the Azeri tutor will meet with the TURFLI cohort one time per week for one class hour (50 minutes). Each meeting will be held at a location conducive to language practice and at a standard, consistent time that is convenient for the students and the tutor. Due to the low volume of hours for this position, the Azeri Tutor may work remotely and hold sessions virtually. Azeri tutorial sessions begin during the second week of classes, the week of June 27, and continue through the last week of classes, the week of August 8. If it is necessary to reschedule in a given week, the Azeri tutor should notify the TURFLI Program Coordinator and the TURFLI Pedagogy Coordinator and schedule a make-up session with students as soon as possible.
