ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY SMPH/BIOMOLEC CHEM/BIOMOL CHM Madison
The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry seeks to hire one tenure track faculty member whose area of research specialization include chromosome and RNA biology, gene expression, development, metabolism, and cellular signaling. The successful candidate will carry out research, teach and mentor students and staff, and participate in administrative and committee work to support the scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health.
CHEMIST II WSLH\ENVIRN SC\ORGAN CHEM Madison
This is a Chemist Level position within the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH), and performs duties under the supervision of the Organic Chemistry Supervisor. This position serves as a Liquid Chromatography - Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) specialist responsible for independently preparing, analyzing and reporting tissue, water, waste water, solids and other sample matrices to support state or federal regulations, research grants or other contracts. Responsibilities include performing routine and non-routine analysis using state-of-the-art technologies; performing maintenance on complex systems; training other analysts; and working with clients to understand the results we have provided. Knowledge of GCMS, GC-FID, and GC-ECD would also be preferable as this position may also run other routine tests in the laboratory.
LABORATORY ADMINISTRATOR L&S/CHEMISTRY/CHEMISTRY Madison
If you are organized and have strong communication skills, this may be the job for you! As the Laboratory Administrator, you will provide important administrative services for the Stahl Research Group, including contributing to the preparation of written documents, ordering lab supplies, organizing and scheduling group logistics, tracking budgets and expenditures, and coordinating group member onboarding and exit activities. The start date for this position will be November 15 or later, depending on incumbent availability.
CHEMIST I OR CHEMIST II WSLH/CHEMICAL RESPONSE Madison
The Chemical Emergency Response (CER) Program performs clinical testing for human exposure to chemical threats. This is a chemist position within the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH), performing duties under the general supervision of the CER Program Supervisor. This position will have a strong focus on LIMS Administration to meet clinical program objectives. This position will also have analytical responsibility for the determination of chemical threat agents and their metabolites, chemical unknowns, and other environmental hazards using gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS), liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LCMSMS), and other instrumentation. Analytical operation, method development, method optimization, training, and collaboration with internal and external partners are also central responsibilities. This position will have the opportunity to work with other state and federal agencies, including participation at professional conferences.

MICROBIOLOGIST I WSLH\ENVIRN SC\WATR MICRB Madison
One of the incumbent’s primary roles will be to share responsibilities for preparing and performing quality control procedures on testing media for the entire Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH). WSLH is part of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. WSLH serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. This position functions in the Environmental Health Division in the Water Microbiology Unit. In addition to media preparation, the incumbent performs and interprets the results of routine and non-routine microbiological analyses of drinking waters, as well as lakes, streams and river samples to benefit water quality and protect public health. Quality control and quality assurance functions will be performed to ensure that the units are always in compliance with all applicable regulations.

This position is part of a campus-wide cluster hiring initiative on Origins of Life, Artificial Life, and Astrobiology (OoLALA; https://astrobio.wisc.edu/). The person hired is expected to contribute to the cluster through their research, teaching, and interaction with the vibrant OoLALA community and the Wisconsin Center for Origins Research (WiCOR), a new interdisciplinary research initiative in the UW-Madison Astronomy Department. Tenure home will be determined at time of hire.
