RESEARCH SPECIALIST SMPH/PSYCHIATRY/PSYCHIATRY Madison
RESEARCH SPECIALIST summary: A Research Specialist position is available in the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) in the laboratory of Ned H. Kalin, MD. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Kalin, scientists, researchers, and others to coordinate and execute studies involving nonhuman primates at the Harlow Center for Biological Psychology and the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center. A major aim of the Kalin laboratory is to understand the early-life factors that contribute to the risk to develop stress-related psychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on pathological anxiety disorders during the preadolescent period. An understanding of the mechanisms that contribute to the risk to develop these illnesses will pave the way for the development of neuroscientifically-informed new treatments. The laboratory's ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of new treatments for children such that these interventions will alter the life-long course of suffering associated with anxiety and depression.

GME PROGRAM MANAGER summary: The Department of Medicine (DOM) Internal Medicine Residency Program is recruiting a Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Manager to support the day-to-day administration of the residency program and ensure program compliance within established accreditation regulations. The Internal Medicine Residency Program includes more than 90 post-graduate trainees (residents) and is supported by an innovative and highly skilled team of staff and faculty. Under the direction of the GME Administrator, the Program Manager will work collaboratively with the residency education staff team, the Residency Program Director, multiple Associate Program Directors, Chief Residents, and the DOM Assistant Director of Education. The Program Manager will assist with developing and maintaining the educational quality of the training program and ensure that GME policies and procedures, and other regulatory requirements are met. The person in this position will interface regularly with faculty, trainees, and other staff in the DOM and GME office. The position requires someone who is self-directed with a high degree of professionalism, outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines. The individual working in this position will benefit from prior experience working for an academic medical institution, interest in and knowledge of Graduate Medical Education, and experience managing projects, curricular activities, and/or events for adult learners and faculty.
