ANIMAL CARE TECH II summary: The Rodent Models Core (RMC) at the Waisman Center is seeking an Animal Care Technician II to perform animal husbandry tasks, collect samples, administer medications and other related tasks. The RMC is essential to the success of research that uses animal models for the study of normal and abnormal development and degeneration of the nervous system. The core provides technical support, access to sophisticated behavioral equipment for mice and rats that can be shared among several investigators, and expertise in the behavioral phenotyping of mouse and rat models of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and related disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). It operates within the Waisman Animal Facility, which is responsible for the care, feeding and record-keeping related to the use of mice and rats on projects and the maintenance of specific rodent models of development, developmental disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with rodents in a research or non-research setting, the ability to work both independently and with a team and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A rotating weekend and legal holiday schedule is required.
